The Sunday morning service was conducted by Rev Andrew Rooney. The preacher in the evening was Rt Rev Colin Sinclair, Moderator of the Church of Scotland General Assembly; Church members assisted in worship through the of leading prayers and readings. The congregation included people from other churches and the evening ended with refreshments and fellowship in the large hall. As part of his week’s visit to Lanark Presbytery, Colin and his wife Ruth called in to Second Chance when they chatted to volunteers and customers. It was clear that they were impressed both by the ethos of the undertaking and the way it was presented.
Next Sunday’s worship begins with an Act of Remembrance at 10-30am at the front door of the Church. Wreathes will be laid at the Roll of Honour by members of the uniformed organisations. Everyone will be welcomed to attend this annual ceremony. The morning service in the Church will start at 10-55am to allow observance of the 2 minutes silence at 11am.
